Ambuja Cements intends to invest Rs 1000 crore in Jharkhand

Ambuja Cements, now part of the Adani Group, said on Wednesday that it planned to invest Rs 1,000 crore to set up a cement grinding unit in Jharkhand's Godda district. Ambuja Cements Limited (ACL) said in a statement that the new 4 million tonne per annum (MTPA) cement grinding unit will be set up after necessary approvals.

“As part of a broader objective to dispose of fly ash in an environmentally safe manner and contribute to the circular economy, this project has been planned in close proximity to Adani Power (Jharkhand) Limited,” it said. It further added that the unit will create direct and indirect jobs for more than 2,500 people.

Ambuja Cements operates two cement plants in Jharkhand with a combined capacity of 6 million tonnes per year. "We believe that Jharkhand has enormous potential in terms of resources, infrastructure, and skilled manpower, making it an ideal place for this project. We eagerly anticipate collaborating closely with the government to ensure the successful execution of this project," stated Ajay Kapoor, CEO of Cement Business.

Ambuja, along with its subsidiary ACC Limited, recently acquired Sanghi Industries Limited, which boasts a production capacity of 74.6 MTPA and comprises 18 integrated cement production facilities and 14 grinding units spread across the nation.
