Q.Can you tell us in detail about your company, Hyundai Construction Equipment?

HD Hyundai Construction Equipment India is a part of Hyundai Construction Equipment South Korea. Hyundai India started operation in 2007, rolled out the 1st machine in 2008 from Chakan Factory. In a short span the company has achieved No.2 position in domestic market by selling over 45000 excavators. Hyundai India products are also exported to 37 countries in SAARC, MEA and Asia. Through a zero-tolerance quality control inspection system and innovative engineering, we offer a wide range of excavator to satisfy the demands of our customers The active machine population of 45,000+ is served through 225+ full-fledged 3S (Sales, Service and Spares) branches of company and 57 dealers across INDIA.

The company is also importing Mini Excavators and Material Handling Equipment from South Korea for the India market.

Q. What have been the key goals and achievements of your company in the last few years?

Just to give you brief about Hyundai history, we have started our operation in 2007 and in the spam of 15 years we have produced more than 40,000 crawler excavator from our Chakan manufacturing plant. These products not only working exceptionally well in INDIA, Hyundai products are well appreciated by overseas customers as well. This is evident from the fact currently we are 2nd largest excavator selling company in INDIA & market leader for export market. Recently we have also opened “Hyundai Rebuild Centre” where our target is to rebuild old Hyundai machines to something similar to original condition.

Q. Can you briefly tell us about your company’s material handling equipment, like forklifts, warehousing equipment, and others?

Hyundai India is world’s leading and established brand in India, Hyundai MHE division is having very vast product range starting from 1.5T to 30T capacity. Hyundai India is committed to deliver world class MHE products and ensure maximum uptime of all Material Handling Equipment’s. Under one roof customer can get all material handling solutions with highest safety and world class performance features unavailable with any other forklifts. Hyundai in India is committed for a long lasting sustainable business relationship with its customers, in MHE sector Hyundai is extending its world class technical excellence with a wide range of MHE products marketed under Hyundai brands. Currently Hyundai India (MHE Division) is having very wide dealer network having total 22 dealers. Dealer’s service personal is fully trained and certified by Hyundai after sales department.

Q.Would you tell us about some of the excavator equipment, such as mini excavators, mining excavators, XL series, and more like this?

Hyundai India’s brand philosophy ‘Building a Comfortable Tomorrow’ is evident in its new Smart+ Series excavators and other products that offer global standard best in class features like advanced hydraulics, fuel efficient engines, ergonomically designed cabins etc. The products deliver higher performance and precision, along with real time performance assessment since they are completely IoT enabled. Our products with their advanced mechanisms and safety features have positioned Hyundai in the top ranks of the Indian excavator market and we are also a major exporter to over 30 countries including the Middle East, African and SAARC countries. Hyundai India has produced ~45,000 units of excavators since it started production in India in 2008.

Hyundai India is initiating higher utilization of its machines across their total lifecycle by rebuilding/ remanufacturing at its Chakan facility. Under the program, the company is rebuilding machines sourced from the market wherein it completely rebuilds all the components like tracks, idlers, rollers, engines, booms, arm buckets, etc. Another rebuilding exercise entails providing an ‘extended service life’ backed by a warranty. Under this, Hyundai takes back products from dealers, rebuilds, and sells them at discounted prices. The company is also encouraging some of its dealers to undertake rebuilding of the equipment.

Q. Can you elaborate on the attachment materials used by your company, such as excavator attachments and special attachments?

Hyundai has wide range of attachments available in its portfolio. Excavator attachments and special attachments are crucial components in construction and earthmoving operations. The choice of materials for these attachments depends on factors such as the type of work, environmental conditions, and the specific requirements of the project. We have below attachments available with us.

1. Rock Breakers: We have 2 series of Rock Breakers namely, HDB Series Rock Breaker & HP Series Rock Breaker. We have rock breakers for machines from 3 Ton Class to 50 Ton Class.

2. Quick Coupler: Hyundai Quick Coupler is single casted body with Twin Locking System for extra safety.

3. Clamshell Bucket: Clamshell is most rugged made from a combination of steel & hardox plates of suitable thickness. It comes with 360° rotations with speed controller.

4. Orange Grapple: Orange Grapple is made from a combination of steel & hardox plates of suitable thickness. It has 5 Heavy Duty Tins & comes with 3600 Clock & Anti Clock rotation with speed controller.

Q. In the coming years, what challenges might your company face?

Like every other global market, Indian mining sector is also highly dependent on government policies & economic situation of country. These factor are not entirely in our control. We can talk challenges in terms of product something which we can control. Mining customers are most demanding both in terms of product performance and product support from manufacturer. Just to give perspective in terms of number, average yearly running hour of 50T mining excavator is around 5000-6000-hour compare to 2000- 2500 of normal infra excavator. So you can imagine kind of reliability expected from mining product for longer working hours. If we talk about challenges, one of the major challenge or we can say a key customer requirement is that the machine should work trouble free continuously throughout the year. 

So it’s our responsibility to design product keeping customer expectation in mind. This is the reason all our mining products are premium HX Series global designed product equipped with heavy duty structures and attachment so that it can work on longer time without any major issues. We also have 24x7 on-site service and spare parts support to improve uptime of product Second challenge is in terms of cost. Indian mining sector is highly competitive sector. So we have to design product which can work trouble free and at lowest operating cost. To overcome this challenge, we have designed product with fuel saving features like Intelligent Power control [IPC], Fuel Saving Kit, Auto Deceleration etc. These feature improve product performance as well fuel efficiency.

1. Incorporation of Advanced Technologies: - Integration of advanced technologies for improved equipment performance, predictive maintenance, and data analytics. Emphasis on leveraging data to make informed decisions, optimize equipment utilization, and improve overall project management.

2. Customization and Modular Design: - Increased focus on customizable and modular equipment designs to meet the specific needs of different projects and industries.

3. Focus on Operator Comfort and Safety: - Designing equipment with a strong focus on operator comfort and safety, including ergonomic features and advanced safety systems.

4. Providing comprehensive lifecycle services, including maintenance, repair, and equipment upgrades, to enhance customer relationships and extend the lifespan of equipment.
