Q.How do you see Nilang expanding over the next five years or so? Please enlighten our readers about the marvellous journey so far?
We are breaking the goal into smaller steps instead of five years, so that we can focus properly and move forward with strategies. We are working in almost all departments, like product manufacturing and product quality improvement. We are improving sales and after-sales service step by step. We are expanding our sales team and opening new regional offices to increase our presence in the Indian market. Besides, they are also focusing on the international market by participating in exhibitions in different countries.
Q.What is your current manufacturing capacity?
What are your expansion plans? Our equipment manufacturing capacity is currently around 4–5 machines per month and will increase by 30–40% when new construction takes place. We have a manufacturing facility of around 40000 sq. ft., and there is still some open area in continuation of our manufacturing unit, which will be converted into an operational area soon with better manufacturing facilities.
Q.According to you, how can the Asphalt Industry improve longevity in India?
Flexible pavement has always been and will be in the road industry due to its durability and low maintenance costs. Asphalt roads have several advantages over rigid pavement, such as recyclability, lower project costs, and easier repair. Also, the environment does not affect flexible pavement.
Q. What is the extent of your Asphalt Portfolio and what unique offerings does it cover?
We have the entire range of asphalt mixing machinery covered. Ranging from continues type mixing plants with parallel flow and counter flow technology to batch type mixing plants with additional attachments for recycling technology; in which there are two verticals, i.e., hot recycling and cold recycling. Also with it, Nilang Asphalt Equipment is the only manufacturing company to offer a Mastic Asphalt Mixing Plant with a Mastic Cooker. The company has set up a 100% Indianmade plant and has proven its performance.
Q.What are the roadblocks in the pathway of India’s Asphalt’s Equipment market’s growth trajectory?
I would not say obstacles, but challenges. As time passes, competition is becoming tougher, and customers have more choices than before. Growing as a producer also has its positive side. The company should remain close to the customer all the time and focus more on after-sales service, which is a key factor in maintaining and expanding market share.
Q.How can these challenges of the industry be addressed? How is your company contributing towards this transition?
There are always challenges in the market, and this helps us improve as manufacturers. The company is moving towards updated technologies for the manufacturing department. We are moving towards decentralized operations to meet the needs of customers across India. We are expanding our product portfolio to create a one-stop shop solution, on which we are also available for concrete mixing plants. In such a vast and competitive market, no one can survive with a single product. There should be multiple solutions for customers.
Q.Could you tell us about your major projects and clientele you are catering to?
We are now working on Recycling Technology which is now new and most important in market. Government Department is also promoting the same and it will be game changer in the Asphalt Equipment Industry. We have the solutions ready and searching for the right opportunity to present in the market. We can say that company has supplied from the smallest capacity of Asphalt Batch Mix Plant (60 TPH) to largest capacity (260 TPH) of Asphalt Batch Mix Plant in the Indian market.
Q. IME’s (International Mining Exhibition) 10th Anniversary Edition is going to happen in November 2023. Do you want to convey anything special to your customers through our platform?
IME is one of the biggest platform, especially for the mining industry. We are not participating in that exhibition, but we are always available to provide all kinds of solutions for Asphalt Mixing Equipment.
